She Keeps the Light Off (working title)

Ongoing series, 2025-

This work was made while caring for a woman who knew my grandmother. In a fragmented way, caring for her sometimes feels like an extension of caring for my grandmother if she were still here. I try not to get too attached.

The series observes a quiet life that still carries meaning beyond its earlier fullness. She no longer plays golf, but her dusty clubs and trophies remain. She is no longer part of the ikebana club, but her ikebana books and vessels remain. Old letters and photo albums persist as traces of a life once fuller.

An investigation into aging, solitude, memory, inheritance, and loneliness.
