Grace Kim

My photographic practice centers on quiet psychological inquiry, exploring themes of loneliness, intimacy, endurance, and the tension between natural vitality and human intervention. The work is less concerned with answers than with inviting contemplation, asking how care, fragility, and restraint coexist.

I am drawn to understated visual language and recurring motifs such as light and shadow, abstracted forms, nature, and domestic objects that carry emotional and temporal weight. These elements function as sites of reflection rather than narrative subjects.

I work in both film and digital formats, maintaining an active darkroom practice alongside a digital post-production process. My formal training is in black-and-white photography, and material and process remain central to shaping the work.

My current focus is on developing a body of work that examines loneliness in aging and forms of quiet resilience, considering preservation and decline within natural environments.

Grace is based in Richmond, Virginia, and holds a BFA in Fine Art with a concentration in Photography from Radford University.
